Schlumberger Cambridge Research
Schlumberger is the world’s leading supplier of technology, project management and information solutions to the oil and gas industry. We employ 84,000 people of more than 140 nationalities working in 80 different countries.

Schlumberger Cambridge Research (SCR) is a science and engineering research laboratory serving our Oilfield Services division.
Over the past ten years, we have employed several students on industrial placements at our Cambridge research laboratories, where they work as fully integrated members of research groups. We are now looking to fill one placement for the period summer 2009 - summer 2010. We would be pleased to receive applications from any students undertaking degrees in Engineering or the Natural Sciences (Physical).
Interested candidates should e-mail a CV and covering letter to Kate Evans, Personnel Advisor at recruiting@cambridge.oilfield.slb.com quoting Int2009.

Any informal enquiries should be made to Mr Mike Barrett, Principal Research Engineer on 01223 325 302 or email mbarrett@slb.com.The precise starting and finishing dates are negotiable, and we offer a competitive salary. Students who spend a year with us on a placement may sometimes be offered further employment during subsequent university vacations, subject to an appropriate vacancy arising. In recent years, this has included re-employment at SCR and summer vacation positions at our centres in Paris and in Houston.
Students joining us at SCR may gain experience in a range of science and engineering topics from physics, control systems, electronics and fluid mechanics to computer programming and analysis techniques, as well as a variety of general scientific measurement and research methods. These positions would suit someone with an interest in practical “hands-on” work.
Interested candidates are very welcome to contact us and, if they wish, they can also discuss the position with our present students. Further information about Schlumberger is also available at the following site: http://www.slb.com/
Short listed candidates will then be invited to spend a day with us before reaching a decision.
The closing date for applications is Friday 19th December 2008.
